The Festival’s traditional large-scale Opening Concert sees the welcome return of
the Bach Choir under David Hill in a rich programme of Germanic masterpieces.
Wagner’s stirring Mastersingers overture leads into the late Romantic yearnings
of Strauss’ songs, a glorious showcase for soprano Sarah Fox. She will be joined
in the second half by Hampshire Singer of the Year Jimmy Holliday for Brahms’
inventive and ever-popular German Requiem. An evening of the finest vocal and
choral singing is guaranteed to get everyone in a festive mood. |
